January 2005
We're now halfway through January, and the last parts of the welding
are done, on the frontside has a complete new embedded
drawbar-compartment formed , with ofcourse a door in it. This room is
big enough for 2 big cylinders of gas and a lot more small stuff.
overview drawing of the welding job
The shutter has the same shape as the normal touring models, the only
difference is that it will open in one direction like a normal door.
The 24m of extra tubes which I had orderd, has also been put in
completely. So now there is 60m of new tubes in the frame.
Meanwhile I searched the internet for a new aluminum plate. A german
guy called Jorg did had a plate, and sent me a sample, unfortunately
this kind of plate was only 0,4mm thick, which is to weak for the
caravan. I'm afraid that if I use it in a couple of years there will be
cracks in it.
A supplier in Venlo can provide me with some aluminum plates, but only
in pieces of 1*2m, which means that there had to come a couple of seams
on the outside. I'v done a test with to pieces to test of I can attach
them by using hand. The result was promising.
The next jobs exist out of make the frame completely blank, so I can
cover it with red lead, another nice job to do.
At this time it's the end of
January, en the upperframe (everything except for the bottom section)
is completely blank, and covered it twice with minium. Now it looks
completely different, you can't tell the difference between the new
pieces and the orginal pieces.
